GL Courses

As part of the Global Learning Medallion experience, we are required to take a certain quantity of courses that are considered beneficial in the process of broadening our global perspective. These courses are intended to expose students to the application of qualifying topics to global conflicts while maintaining a culturally aware perspective.

MCB2000

This particular course focused on teaching the basics of Microbiology in relation to pathogen, microbe growth, and other principles. It also included the global implications for microbe-related conflicts on a global scale.

ANT3212

The course exposed me to the concept of Ethnography which involves the scientific observation of the customs and practices of different groups of people or ethnicities. Through this exposure, I am able to analyze and relate experiences to different cultural groups and date them back to sociological theories.

SYD3804

Sociology of Gender Studies focused on the relationship of the roles of women and men as established by societal standards throughout history. The relationship of status and power between genders is also discussed on a global scale. In addition, the consequences of disparities and inequalities are explored from a holistic perspective.

WST3015

This course explored the role of women in today's society after the development of women's rights while also covering the conflicts that indicate the need for further progression.

Reflection

These courses allowed me to not only gain an understanding of what global awareness indicates, but also witness the possibilities for applying what I have learned during my time as a student in the real world.
